Cerro de Monserrate
Monserrate is a high mountain over 10,000 feet high that dominates the city center of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. It rises to 3,152 meters above the sea level, where there is a church with a shrine, devoted to El Señor Caído.

The famous Monserrate church was built in 1640 in honor of the shrine to the Virgin of Monserrat, or 'Our Lady of Monserrat's' that was located in Barcelona's Montserrat. The church is home to a carved crucifix and statue of Jesus which is known as 'El Señor Caído', or 'The Fallen Lord'.
After exploring the mountain’s church, you can meander along cobbled streets and head to one of two restaurants, souvenir shops, or even browse in a market. There are also tourist facilities.

The history of Bolívar Square dates back to the pre-Columbian era, when the site was part of the Muisca Confederation. The first building on the square, a primitive cathedral, was constructed in 1539, a year after the foundation of the Colombian capital. During the Spanish colonial period, Bolívar Square was the stage for circus acts, public markets and bullfights. The square is surrounded by historical buildings; the Palace of Justice is located on the northern edge and the National Capitol borders the square in the south. The Primary Cathedral of Bogotá, next to the Archiepiscopal Palace with the monumental door cast by Ferdinando Marinelli Artistic Foundry and the Liévano Palace, seat of the mayor of Bogotá, are situated on the eastern and western side respectively.

Go to Vintrash on Tuesday night for Gringo Tuesday. This is the absolute best mid-week option in Bogota and you're sure to have some fun. Sure, it can be a little too “gringo” at times. But it's still a solid option for partying during the week and fairly cheap.

The nightlife in Zona T can be hit or miss on a Wednesday. Sometimes things will get pretty wild. Other times you won't find many people out. Usually the best option is to hit up Armando Records a little bit before midnight. The place tends to get a solid crowd on Wednesdays, just a little later.

COMUNA 13 USED TO BE one of the most dangerous areas in Medellin but community projects and a series of outdoor escalators have helped turn this poor district into one of the most colorful communes in the city.
Throughout the 80s and 90s, Comuna 13 was considered one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world. It was run by violent drug trafficking organizations, who used the poor, sprawling hillside barrio as a transit route in and out of the city, and served as a stronghold for guerrillas, gangs, and paramilitaries
The result was the creation of one of the most colorful communes in Medellín. The area surrounding the six sets of escalators is now covered with murals and graffiti, with bright colors and street art decorating walls once riddled with bullet holes. Many murals tell the story of Comuna 13, or depict local heroes, the artwork sliding by as you ride the escalator up to the top of the hill, where a lookout and boardwalk provide excellent views across the city.
